Important summary

Free hosting is provided on a best-effort basis, servers may stop while empty, and inactive free servers may eventually be deleted. Keep your own backups. You are responsible for your server, its players and anything you upload or install.

1. Acceptance and eligibility

These Terms of Service (the Terms) are an agreement between you and RecoilHost (RecoilHost, we, us or our). They apply to recoilhost.com, its subdomains, our control panel, Minecraft proxy network, hosted servers, support services, voting and reward systems, and any related service we operate (together, the Service).

By creating an account, clicking to accept these Terms or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18 or under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. You must meet any higher minimum age required by local law.

If you use the Service for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation. You may not use the Service if doing so would violate applicable law, sanctions or an agreement binding you.

2. The Service and free hosting

RecoilHost provides tools for creating and operating Minecraft Java and Bedrock servers. Features may include server files, console access, SFTP, subdomains, plugins, mods, proxy routing, account linking, voting rewards and resource boosts.

Free hosting is supplied without a service-level agreement and on a best-effort, as-available basis. We may use queues, automatic sleeping or stopping, resource limits, fair-use controls and regional capacity limits. A server may stop when empty and start again when requested. Advertised resources describe the current offer and may change for new or existing free services where reasonably necessary to keep the platform sustainable.

We may move a server between compatible systems or locations, change its address, replace software, perform maintenance, or temporarily restrict features where reasonably required for security, capacity, legal compliance or reliable operation. We will try to give notice of material planned changes where practical.

Inactivity and deletion

We may treat a free server as abandoned after at least 30 consecutive days without meaningful owner activity. Abandoned servers may be suspended and their files, backups and subdomains may be deleted. We may also close an account that has had no meaningful activity for at least 12 months and has no paid service or legally required record attached to it. Where reasonably practical, we will send notice to the account email before an inactivity deletion.

Backups and data loss

You are responsible for keeping independent backups of worlds, configurations, plugins, mods and other important files. Any backup feature is a convenience, not a guarantee. Backups may be incomplete, unavailable, corrupted or removed with the server. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for data loss caused by software failure, user action, third-party content, attacks, maintenance or infrastructure failure.

3. Accounts and security

You must provide accurate information, maintain a working email address and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity performed through your account, API credentials, SFTP credentials, server console and authorised subusers, except to the extent caused by our failure to use reasonable care.

Unless we approve otherwise, each person may operate one free account and receive one free server. You must not create or control additional accounts to bypass limits, suspensions, queues or enforcement. You must promptly notify us if you suspect unauthorised access.

Giving another person panel or server access does not transfer responsibility for the account. We may rely on instructions issued through your authenticated account.

4. Your servers and content

You retain ownership of worlds, configuration and other content you lawfully upload or create (User Content). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, copy, transmit, cache, back up, adapt for technical compatibility and otherwise process User Content only as needed to provide, secure, support and improve the Service, comply with law, or enforce these Terms. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for temporary backup copies and records we must retain.

You confirm that you have all permissions and licences needed for your User Content and server software. You are responsible for your server's administrators, players, rules, chat, logs, plugins, mods, resource packs and other third-party content. RecoilHost does not endorse and is not responsible for content supplied by customers or third parties.

You must provide any notices and obtain any consents required for information your server collects from players, including player IP addresses, chat, usernames and gameplay logs. Our Privacy Policy explains our role when hosting that information.

We may access server files, console output and related records when reasonably necessary to provide requested support, investigate abuse or security incidents, protect the platform, comply with law, or maintain the Service. We do not undertake to monitor every server.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You may use the Service only for lawful Minecraft hosting and other uses we expressly permit. You must not use, attempt to use, or allow the Service to be used to:

  • host, distribute or facilitate malware, phishing, credential theft, botnets, exploits or unauthorised access;
  • launch or assist denial-of-service attacks, port scans, vulnerability scans, brute-force attacks, spam or abusive automation;
  • operate public proxies, VPNs, Tor relays, traffic relays, cryptocurrency mining, unrelated file hosting, scraping farms or workloads unrelated to the hosted game service;
  • circumvent resource limits, queues, suspensions, automatic sleep, player limits, account limits, network restrictions or other technical controls, including by fabricating players or activity;
  • infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity or other rights, including by distributing software or content without permission;
  • publish or facilitate child sexual abuse material, sexual exploitation, unlawful threats, doxxing, stalking, targeted harassment, terrorism, or content unlawful in the place where it is hosted or accessed;
  • impersonate another person or RecoilHost staff, misrepresent affiliation, defraud users, manipulate votes or advertising, or obtain rewards dishonestly;
  • interfere with RecoilHost, other customers, upstream providers or any third-party system; or
  • resell, lease or transfer the Service without our written permission.

Offline-account functionality does not supply or replace a licence to Minecraft or other software. You and your players remain responsible for obtaining any required licences and complying with the applicable Minecraft EULA, Usage Guidelines and third-party licence terms.

We may investigate suspected abuse, preserve relevant evidence, limit network access, quarantine files, suspend services, notify affected providers, or cooperate with lawful authorities. Report abuse to support@recoilhost.com.

6. Advertising, communications and branding

Free hosting may be funded by advertising, sponsorships, promotions, voting partnerships and RecoilHost branding. We may display service-related notices, promotions or advertisements on our website, panel, emails, RecoilHost-owned proxy or lobby surfaces, and other parts of the Service. Where law requires consent for advertising or tracking technologies, we will request it.

We may send operational messages needed to run your account, including verification, security, suspension, capacity, service and policy notices. Marketing messages will include an opt-out where required. You may not remove or obscure branding that forms part of a free plan unless we allow it.

7. Credits, votes, rewards and payments

Vote tokens, promotional balances, resource boosts and similar rewards are limited, revocable licences to use features within RecoilHost. They are not money, deposits or property; have no cash value; are non-transferable unless we provide a transfer feature; and cannot be redeemed outside the Service. We may apply disclosed balance caps, expiry periods, anti-fraud checks and redemption limits.

Voting websites are independent third parties. Their rules and privacy policies apply, and we do not guarantee that a vote will be accepted or rewarded. Automated, fraudulent or manipulated votes may be rejected and associated rewards reversed.

If we offer paid services or credits, the price, billing interval and important conditions will be shown before purchase. Taxes may apply. Except where required by law or stated at checkout, digital credits and consumed service periods are not refundable merely because you change your mind. This does not limit rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Chargebacks or payment disputes do not remove your obligation to pay valid charges. We may suspend affected paid features while a dispute is investigated, but will not penalise you for exercising a lawful consumer right in good faith.

8. Third-party services and software

The Service may rely on or link to third parties such as infrastructure providers, Cloudflare, Crisp, Minecraft server lists, payment providers, software projects, plugins and mods. Third-party terms and privacy policies may apply. We do not control and cannot guarantee third-party availability, safety, compatibility or continued support.

9. Suspension, termination and account deletion

You may stop using the Service at any time. You may request account deletion by emailing support@recoilhost.com from the account email. We may need to verify your identity and may retain limited records as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may restrict, suspend or terminate access, remove content, or refuse future service when reasonably necessary because of a Terms breach, security or legal risk, abuse complaint, non-payment, resource emergency, prolonged inactivity, discontinued service, or risk to another user or provider. Serious or urgent abuse may be acted on without prior notice. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and provide an opportunity to appeal.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends and server data may be deleted. Provisions which by their nature should survive—including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits and dispute terms—remain in effect.

10. Warranties and limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies a consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law.

Subject to those non-excludable rights, free features are provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, permanent storage, compatibility with every client, plugin or mod, or that the Service will be error-free or secure from every attack.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RecoilHost is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary or consequential loss; loss of profits, revenue, goodwill or opportunity; or loss or corruption of data arising from the Service. Where liability may lawfully be limited, our aggregate liability for a claim is limited to the greater of AUD $100 or the amount you paid RecoilHost for the affected Service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Where a statutory guarantee applies and liability may lawfully be limited, our liability is limited, at our option, to supplying the relevant service again or paying the reasonable cost of having it supplied again.

11. Responsibility for third-party claims

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to compensate RecoilHost for reasonable loss, liability and expense arising from a third-party claim caused by your unlawful User Content, your material breach of these Terms, or your deliberate misuse of the Service. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim was caused by RecoilHost or would make this term unfair or unlawful.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, law, security or business operations. The updated date will appear at the top. For material changes, we will provide reasonable notice through the website, panel or account email where practical. Changes will not retroactively take away rights already accrued under applicable law.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without excluding any mandatory law that applies where you live. Before starting formal proceedings, you and RecoilHost agree to try in good faith to resolve the dispute by written notice and reasonable discussion. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking urgent relief or using a consumer protection body or tribunal.

If any provision is invalid or unenforceable, it will be limited or severed to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your account or these Terms without our consent; we may transfer the Service and these Terms as part of a genuine reorganisation, financing or sale, subject to applicable law.

14. Contact

For support, complaints, abuse reports, legal notices or questions about these Terms, email support@recoilhost.com. Include enough detail for us to identify the account, server or issue. Do not email passwords, authentication tokens or other secrets.
