Minecraft Bedrock works out of the box
RecoilHost handles the connection between Minecraft Bedrock Edition and your Java server at the network level. For supported server software, there is no extra cross-play plugin to install and no separate Bedrock server to maintain.
- Enabled on new servers automatically
- Works with Paper, Spigot and Bukkit
- Java and Bedrock players together
- No cross-play plugin setup required
If your server uses Paper, Spigot or Bukkit-compatible software, Bedrock connection support is already available. You do not need to reinstall your server.
What server owners need to do
- Create your free server. Open the RecoilHost Panel and finish the normal server setup.
- Use compatible software. Paper is installed by default, while Spigot and Bukkit-compatible setups are also supported.
- Share your server address. Give your players the RecoilHost address shown in the panel. The network handles the correct connection route.
That is the full setup. Bedrock players do not require a second world, and server owners do not have to keep separate Java and Bedrock communities.
Java and Bedrock players on one server
Both editions connect to the same backend server, so players share the same worlds, chat and gameplay. Your existing Paper or Spigot plugins continue to run on the Java server while RecoilHost translates Bedrock connections.
This makes RecoilHost suitable for friend groups and communities split between PC, mobile devices and consoles that can add external servers.
Compatibility notes
Cross-play covers normal Minecraft connections and gameplay, but some Java-only plugins, custom menus, resource packs or version-specific mechanics may present differently to Bedrock players. Test highly customised features from both editions before opening them to your community.
Bedrock account names remain distinct from Java and non-premium Java accounts, helping the network route each identity correctly.
Bedrock hosting questions
Does every RecoilHost server support Bedrock?
Bedrock support is automatic for Paper, Spigot and Bukkit-compatible servers. Other server software may not be compatible with the cross-play layer.
Do I need to install Geyser myself?
No. RecoilHost provides and maintains the connection layer, so you do not need to install a cross-play plugin on your server.
Can Bedrock and Java players use the same world?
Yes. Both editions connect to the same server and play in the same worlds.
